Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with payroll processing experience to join our team in Fremont, California. This is a long-term contract position within the healthcare industry, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to financial operations in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will excel at managing complex accounting processes, delivering accurate financial reports, and leading key initiatives to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Support with payroll processing in Workday. Workday Payroll is required.
• Prepare and post journal entries accurately and within established deadlines.
• Lead and coordinate the monthly variance analysis process, guiding staff accountants and presenting findings to senior management.
• Review journal entries and reconcile hospital general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Compile and prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring timely completion.
• Develop and maintain audit schedules for interim and year-end audits, while effectively communicating with auditors.
• Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts each month and provide support to staff accountants as needed.
• Process and obtain approvals for wire transfer requests and initiate payments through the hospital's banking portal.
• Ensure all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end deliverables are completed on schedule.
• Handle additional tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Director of Accounting or Controller.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution is required.
• Experience with Workday ERP is required.
• A minimum of five years of recent experience in general accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and audit schedules.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with expertise in creating pivot tables and using vlookups.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
• Public accounting experience, particularly with a Big 4 or regional firm, is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
