Saint-Gobain Production Supervisor I in FREMONT, California
The Production Supervisor I plays a critical leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations while fostering a positive and accountable work environment. This position provides direct supervision of hourly production employees and is essential to achieving operational goals related to safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and employee engagement.
Responsible for leading production teams through active engagement, clear communication of expectations, and consistent enforcement of plant rules and standards.
Ensures that all production activities are carried out in compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements, legal regulations, and company policies, while upholding the organization’s Principles of Conduct and Action.
Safety leadership is a core responsibility, including leading shift safety meetings, investigating incidents and near misses, participating in audits, and driving corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Accountable for employee performance management, including training, coaching, development, and, when necessary, corrective action up to and including termination.
Supports hiring and onboarding efforts, ensures employees are properly trained before operating equipment, and verifies adherence to standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Monitors productivity and provides timely feedback to help employees meet performance expectations while supporting skill development and workforce stability.
Assists with root cause analysis, implements sustainable countermeasures to address production losses, and supports continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and 5S housekeeping standards.
Maintains workplace organization, holds employees accountable for assigned work areas, and supports quality systems and troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and inefficiencies.
Responsible for accurate timekeeping and payroll administration by reviewing and approving employee time in the UKG system and ensuring compliance with site pay policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
This role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts and collaborate closely with plant leadership to ensure production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and employee relations.
Job Requirements
HS Diploma (required)
Bachelor’s degree (preferred) - equivalent experience may be considered
3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
Ability to directly supervise hourly production employees across rotating shifts
Proven capability to coach, train, motivate, and develop employees while enforcing plant rules consistently and fairly
Experience investigating incidents, near misses, and conducting safety or EHS audits
Ability to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, job safety assessments, and company policies
General understanding of ISO methodologies, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, and Six Sigma principles preferred
Strong problem‑solving skills, including root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable countermeasures
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with UKG timekeeping and SAP systems preferred
Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $72,500 to $111,500 per year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, and job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9% of base salary, based on company and individual performance measures.The total target cash range (base pay plus annual bonus) for this position is $79,025 to $121,535.
