+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Job Summary/Basic Functions | | | | The University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join | | our team as a Athletics Grounds Lead Worker. This position performs | | maintenance of the University's athletic complex but not limited to | | lining and setting-up playing fields for a variety of sports, and | | maintenance mowing, trimming, edging, aeration and seeding of turf | | using a variety of maintenance equipment, and performance of a wide | | variety of general grounds maintenance duties. Additionally, duties | | include operation of dump trucks, tractors and other vehicular and | | grounds maintenance equipment, performance of snow removal from | | steps, walks, roads, and parking lots using power or hand tools. | | Priority assignments for this position will focus on care and | | maintenance of the Rugby Pitch. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications | | | | - Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance practices, including | | mowing, trimming, edging, aeration, seeding, and turf management | | techniques. | | - Basic knowledge of safety operation and maintenance of | | groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, tractors, chainsaws, | | trimmers, and other power tools. | | - Basic knowledge of workplace safety procedures and the proper use | | of personal protective equipment (PPE) in grounds maintenance | | operations. | | - Basic knowledge of snow removal procedures and techniques for | | sidewalks, roads, and parking areas. | | - Ability to communicate and follow instructions, both orally and | | written. | | - Ability to lead and perform a wide variety of athletic grounds | | maintenance duties while ensuring work meets institutional | | standards. | | - Ability to prepare athletic fields for practices, competitions, | | and special events in a timely and organized manner. | | - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and | | perform physically demanding tasks. | | - Ability to prioritize work assignments to maintain safe, clean, | | and aesthetically pleasing athletic facilities. | | - Ability to collaborate with athletics staff and other facilities | | personnel to support athletic events and campus operations. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Required Experience: | | | | - Experience in commercial/ professional ground keeping or related | | work. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Additional Considerations: | | | | - High school diploma or equivalent | | - Experience in commercial/ professional ground keeping or related | | work | | - Pesticide Applicators or technicians certificate and respirator | | certification | | - Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
