Actalent Senior Test Technician in Frederick, Maryland

Job Title: Robotic Sr. Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Robotic Sr. Technician to join our innovative team. In this role, you will perform complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and validation of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and their subsystems. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic research and development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly, rework, and modification of AMRs and related subsystems in accordance with engineering documentation, work instructions, and safety standards.

  • Support prototype builds, engineering change implementation, and iterative design updates within an R&D test environment.

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software-related issues impacting AMR functionality, reliability, and uptime.

  • Utilize structured troubleshooting methods and root cause analysis techniques to identify failures and recommend corrective actions.

  • Execute functional, integration, and performance testing of AMRs in laboratory and production-representative environments.

  • Validate system operation against test plans, specifications, and acceptance criteria.

  • Identify nonconformances and support containment, corrective, and preventive actions in collaboration with engineering and quality partners.

  • Load, update, and verify firmware and software releases on robotic systems in accordance with established procedures.

  • Support system configuration, calibration, and setup activities required for equipment operation and testing.

  • Accurately document assembly work, test results, issues, and corrective actions using approved systems and tools.

  • Provide regular status updates on assigned work, including build progress, test outcomes, and open issues.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of work experience in a relevant field.

  • Mechanical aptitude with engines, hydraulics, and complex machines.

  • Electrical and electronic troubleshooting capability.

  • Knowledge of basic IT concepts.

  • Ability to follow work instructions and documentation.

  • Desire to work in a team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering expertise

  • Experience in troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with robotics

  • Skill in hydraulics and engine repair

Work Environment

This role is based in a 113,000 square-foot R&D facility focused on developing new products and solutions within a large innovation and equipment testing area. It is a highly hands-on role that requires active participation in a collaborative and innovative setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
