Material Handler I – 1st Shift
Position Overview
The Material Handler I is a critical member of our operations team, responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, handling, and movement of materials—including those maintained in extreme temperature environments ranging from ambient conditions to –196°C . This role supports day‑to‑day workflows across the facility and requires adherence to strict safety and quality standards, especially when working with potentially hazardous materials.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and verify incoming raw materials, ensuring proper documentation and storage.
Safely transport materials—including hazardous substances—throughout the facility.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date inventory records through receipts, adjustments, and cycle counts.
Follow all site safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and handling protocols.
Support operational efficiency by ensuring materials are staged and available as needed.
Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in warehousing, distribution, supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
Familiarity with warehouse equipment and safe material-handling practices.
Experience working with computerized storage and retrieval systems for specimen or material management.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Regular exposure to cold environments, including walk‑in freezers and refrigerators (up to 5 hours per day ).
Routine handling of dry ice, liquid nitrogen, cryogenic materials, and hazardous or infectious agents.
Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Ability to:
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Push up to 70 lbs
Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM , with overtime as required to support operations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
