Job Description
The Lead Statistician works with multi-disciplinary research teams to provide methodological expertise, leadership and strategic support at all stages of projects from planning to completion. This individual provides guidance to junior and middle level staff or works independently on projects requiring advanced statistical analysis, interpretation and dissemination of findings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP) Development
Draft SAPs for projects that require use of advanced statistical methodologies
Advise junior and middle level staff on methodology and approach on projects requiring use of standard statistical methodologies
Review and approve SAPs projects that require use of standard statistical methodologies
Implementation & Interpretation of Analyses
Project Lead (including execution of analyses) on project requiring the use of advanced statistical methodologies
Provide guidance and advice as needed for junior and mid-level staff on projects requiring use of standard statistical methodologies
Proposal Writing and Report Preparation
Lead proposal development in familiar project-types or take a supportive role for more complex projects
Determine technical approach, review proposal drafts and take responsibility of stats components
Get involved in client discussions
Obtain significant levels of repeat business from clients
May lead technical response to requests for proposals, generates repeat work and amendments
May identify opportunities for new work
May advise and peer-review budget
Communication with internal/external Clients
Lead meetings and discussions with clients
Act as an escalation point for client concerns related to the project
Communicate effectively and proactively with project teams
Ability to work with and delegate to junior and mid-level staff, responsible for deliverable quality and integrity
Review and support presentations by more junior staff
Consulting Expectations
Provide on-the-spot problem-solving and consulting in discussions of results
Provide methodological expertise within and outside the team
Methodological Development
Contribute to the conceptualization and development of novel/bespoke solutions to meet client project needs
Independently investigate the properties, applicability and advantages/disadvantages of both:
Methodologies developed by Evidera as bespoke solutions to client projects
Newly published methodologies, and seeks senior input when needed
May lead the development of parts of tools/macros that improve efficiency of project execution, seeking senior input when needed
Provide technical training on the tools developed within HEMA
Scientific Presence
Develop and implement the best scientific practices/guidelines, product development/new methods, or deliverable standards
Support external thought leadership through publications and workshops
Look for opportunities to disseminate knowledge
Financial and managerial
Responsible for achieving utilization and proposal and sales target
Can supervise and mentor junior and middle level staff, involvement in hiring and development of staff, conducting performance reviews.
In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Education, Professional Skills & Experience:
PhD in Biostatistics/Statistics or related field with 4+ years of experience, MSc in Biostatistics/Statistics or related field with 6+ years of experience, or BSc in Biostatistics/Statistics or related field with 8+ years of experience
Strong basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods, and expertise with techniques such as regression analysis (continuous, binary, count data), longitudinal data analysis (mixed effects linear regression), parametric and semi-parametric survival analysis, meta-analysis, indirect treatment comparisons, issues related to missing data, etc.
Practical experience in standard statistical applications in health economics such as: o Standard parametric and semi-parametric survival analyseso Flexible parametric models (spline, piecewise)o ITC methods (Bucher, network meta-analyses [NMA], matching-adjusted indirect comparisons [MAICs], simulated treatment comparisons)o Country-specific utility analyses to inform CEMs
Familiarity with complex methods, including:o Projecting incomplete survival data using Bayesian parametric survival models with informative priorso Adjustment for treatment switching (rank preserving structural failure time, inverse probability of censoring weighting, two-stage estimation)o Mixture cure modelso multi-state modelso Multilevel network meta-regression and fractional polynomial NMAo Surrogacy analyses
Strong statistical programming skills with standard software, including R and/or STATA/SAS
Ability to communicate analysis plans and results to clients or colleagues who may have limited background in statistics
Scientific visibility in terms of authorship of peer-reviewed publications, podium presentations and posters at conferences
Leading development and deployment of technology solutions for initiatives involving automation or AI-enablement in statistics and other areas in health economics and market access will be an asset

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $185,000.00–$200,000.00.
