The role requires onsite work five days per week , with travel between the Rockville, MD and Frederick, MD locations . Depending on operational needs you may travel to either Frederick or Rockville more times than the other location. Hybrid or remote work is not available .
Summary
The HR Specialist manages day-to-day transactional activities within the Human Resources function, ensuring employee records, compliance documentation, and routine HR processes are maintained accurately and efficiently.
This role is highly detail-oriented and serves as the operational backbone of HR by handling documentation, system administration, and processes that support the full employee lifecycle.
Salary :$55,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
Key Responsibilities :
Maintain employee records in HRIS and personnel files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
Process new hire paperwork, employee status changes, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
Track and process leave of absence requests (FMLA, ADA, personal leaves) and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
Administer benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in coordination with benefit providers.
Complete and audit I-9 forms and other compliance-related documentation.
Manage data entry, reporting, and reconciliations related to payroll and benefits in partnership with Finance/Payroll.
Prepare routine HR reports, including headcount, turnover, attendance, and PTO balances and requests.
Support internal, external, and government audits by providing required HR documentation.
Serve as the first point of contact for employees with basic HR questions related to forms, policies, and processes.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred (equivalent HR or administrative experience accepted)
2–4 years of HR administrative or HR operations experience.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS/payroll systems (experience with systems such as ADP Workforce Now is a plus).
Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and timeliness.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, particularly in a plant or manufacturing environment.
