Max Mothes Human Resource Manager in Fraser, Michigan

The Human Resource Manager oversees all HR functions to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains high-quality employees. This role is responsible for managing recruitment, onboarding, training, employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, performance management, HR compliance, and policy development. The HR Manager ensures the company's human resource practices support operational goals and comply with all federal, state, and local laws.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Recruitment & Staffing

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for all open positions.
  • Develop job descriptions, postings, interview guides, and selection tools.
  • Partner with department managers to align staffing needs with organizational goals.
  • Oversee applicant tracking, background checks, and offer letter preparation.
  1. Onboarding & Training
  • Develop and manage new hire orientation programs.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding and integration into the organization.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate employee development programs.
  1. Employee Relations
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns.
  • Conduct investigations regarding complaints, conflicts, or policy violations.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and maintain strong employee engagement.
  • Provide coaching to managers and employees on HR policies and best practices.
  1. HR Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Update and enforce company policies and the employee handbook.
  1. Compensation & Benefits Administration
  • Oversee payroll coordination with finance/outsourced payroll provider.
  • Administer benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and leaves of absence.
  • Monitor compensation practices to maintain internal equity and market competitiveness.
  1. Performance Management
  • Implement and manage performance evaluation systems.
  • Support managers in setting performance goals and addressing performance issues.
  • Facilitate corrective actions and performance improvement plans when necessary.
  1. HR Strategy & Reporting
  • Develop HR metrics and reporting tools for leadership.
  • Support organizational development and succession planning initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning related to personnel and workforce development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's or HR certifications preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience; management experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Office environment with frequent interaction with employees at all levels. Occasional travel for recruitment, training, or corporate meetings may be required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally (files, office supplies, etc.).
