Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to develop embedded real-time control software for high-power power generation and conversion systems. The ideal candidate will design control architectures, algorithms, and embedded C code, applying advanced power electronics control techniques to meet internal and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement control architectures, algorithms, and embedded C code for high-power systems.

  • Apply advanced power electronics control techniques such as SVPWM and PHE.

  • Design and implement GUIs and communication protocols including I2C and CAN.

  • Perform hands-on hardware testing, validation, and debugging using JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.

  • Troubleshoot firmware and hardware issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

  • Work extensively in lab and production environments with high-power electrical systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve system malfunctions to enhance reliability and minimize downtime.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other electrical engineers to meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.

  • Manage the full product lifecycle from concept and design through production release and post-launch support.

  • Transition new designs into production with a focus on manufacturability and quality.

  • Work independently while maintaining strong communication with internal teams and stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software design.

  • Proficiency in software programming languages C or C++.

  • Experience in the development of embedded control software.

  • Knowledge of power system control techniques.

  • Hands-on testing of hardware performance with embedded software/firmware using JTAG interface, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or similar equipment.

  • Successful transfer of new designs to production (product development).

  • U.S. citizenship, local to Dayton/Cincinnati area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with power systems up to 480 VAC, 750 VDC, and 100+ KW is a plus.

  • Aerospace industry experience is beneficial.

  • Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Work Environment

The position is based in a manufacturing environment, requiring 100% onsite presence from Monday to Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
