MACON PROGRAM FOR PROGRESS INC Classroom Assistants in Franklin, North Carolina

Head Start / Early Head Start Classroom Assistant Full time, Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

Position Overview: Responsible for working with the Lead Teacher and Teacher in assigned classrooms to deliver high quality early education and child development services by providing developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate learning experiences, routines and activities of a Head Start classroom/center in accordance with the policies, procedures, and philosophy of Macon Program for Progress Board, Policy Council, NCDCDEE, and Administration for Children and Families.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, required
  • Twenty hours in-service training required in Early Childcare Education topics.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification, required within the first 6 weeks of hired date.
  • Two years' experience working with children, preferred.
  • CDL, required or willingness and ability to obtain.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, sort correspondence and memos.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to collaborate and work with the teaching staff in their assigned classrooms.
  • Ability to follow the daily lesson plan for assigned or scheduled classroom.
  • Ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory to daily classroom activities and adapts the theory to the individualized needs of children.
  • Supervises and maintains the safety of children following indoor and outdoor safety rules, routines and procedures.
  • Relates to children in a calm, caring and nurturing manner using age appropriate child guidance techniques.
  • Willing to attend job training, nurture and motivate young children and their families, and work well with others.
