Job Description

This role involves working within a GI clinic connected to a hospital, managing a patient volume of approximately 120-150 patients monthly. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient care, including rooming patients and documenting medical histories.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers by rooming patients, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs/symptoms, taking weight and temperature, and completing medical history documentation.

  • Set up for and assist providers with various tests, including urinalyses, strep/flu/pregnancy tests, and other tests as directed.

  • Schedule tests, radiology exams, and appointments, manage EMR entries, and perform prior authorizations as needed.

  • Assist providers with office exams, collect height, weight, BMI, and update immunization records.

  • Conduct phone triage, handle patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs.

  • Perform walk-in patient duties, including triage, blood pressures, and medication sample requests.

  • Function as a resource to visitors, providers, and staff, ensuring clear communication.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Essential Skills

  • Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, or CCMA certification required.

  • Successful completion and graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working as a CMA.

  • Experience within family practice or women's health.

  • Experience with POC testing.

  • Experience with EMR systems.

Work Environment

The role operates in a temperature-controlled environment with easy access to parking. The team consists of two providers and one other MA, managing approximately 130 patients daily. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with walk-ins from 8am-8:50am, appointments from 9am-11:30am, and 1pm-4:30pm, closing by 5pm. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.22 - $23.00/hr.
