ManpowerGroup Mechanical Design Engineer (DFS) in Foster City, California

Our client, an innovative leader in the automotive and transportation industry, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of the Service Engineering Department supporting vehicle design, maintenance, and operational efficiency initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $68-72/h + Benefits

What's the Job?

  • Drive the Design for Serviceability (DFS) by evaluating form, fit, function, and access of vehicle components.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, and Industrial Design to optimize product design for serviceability.

  • Manage inspection and maintenance programs for fleet vehicles, ensuring efficiency and safety compliance.

  • Develop comprehensive reports, including cost and time models, to identify opportunities for repair process improvements.

  • Work with technical teams to establish repair processes and maintain the Service Bill of Materials (BOM) for spare parts planning.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 4 to 6 years of engineering experience, preferably within a service engineering organization.

  • Strong 3D CAD skills, with CATIA experience considered a plus.

  • Solid understanding of complex mechanical and electrical systems, and familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols.

  • Excellent documentation skills and the ability to work independently on projects.
