A Town Talk Repack Associates job involves sorting, re-packaging, and preparing products for sale in a retail environment. The duties combine warehouse work and quality control, ensuring items are correctly packaged and safe for customers.

Core responsibilities

  • Repackage products:Select individual items from bulk packaging and place them into smaller, retail-ready units according to specific orders and customer requirements. This is common for produce, where bulk items like tomatoes are repacked into smaller bags or containers.
  • Quality control:Inspect products for damage, defects, or spoilage before and during the repackaging process. Set aside or properly dispose of any items that do not meet quality standards.
  • Label and assemble:Apply accurate and clear labels to packaged products, including weight, price, and other necessary information. Assemble and stack finished products onto pallets for distribution.
  • Maintain inventory:Put away incoming stock and monitor inventory levels in the repack area. Replenish product as needed to keep the workflow moving efficiently.
  • Sanitation and safety:Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift, following all sanitation and food safety procedures. This includes using tools safely, such as box cutters.

Key skills and qualifications

  • Physical stamina:The role is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying products. Repack associates often lift items weighing between 1 and 60 pounds or more. This is in a freezer/cold environment. Cold gear will be provided.
  • Attention to detail:Accuracy is critical to ensure that products are correctly counted, weighed, and labeled according to order specifications.
  • Teamwork and communication:Repack associates often collaborate with other warehouse or store employees to fulfill orders and prioritize tasks.
  • Basic math skills:Competency in basic arithmetic is needed for counting and weighing items.
  • Work environment:The job is typically performed in a warehouse or back-of-store setting, which may include working in cold storage areas for perishable goods.
