Transportation Engineer IIIPerforms advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transportation Engineer IVPerforms highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product. Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IIIPerforms advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies.Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development.Reviews and supports Standard Operating Procedures for maintaining and archiving project schedules; managing resources; managing budgets; managing project changes, and managing quality performance measurements.Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex transportation projects.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Coordinates on design schematics, assists with capacity and level of service studies and reviews in-house and consultant traffic control/traffic management/intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plans and projects.Coordinates phases of preliminary design and revisions in PSE with districts, divisions, Administration, the FHWA, contractors, fabricators, Corps of Engineers and local entities.Coordinates with local officials on critical findings involving structures which are not under state jurisdictions to have them posted, repaired or closed to the traveling public.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IVPerforms highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs highly advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies.Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for highly complex transportation projects.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Coordinates on design schematics, assists with capacity and level of service studies and reviews in-house and consultant traffic control/traffic management/intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plans and projects.Coordinates phases of preliminary design and revisions in PSE with districts, divisions, Administration, the FHWA, contractors, fabricators, Corps of Engineers and local entities.Coordinates with Area Engineers and reviews area office contract submissions.Coordinates with local officials on critical findings involving structures which are not under state jurisdictions to have them posted, repaired or closed to the traveling public.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submis ion, special specifications or special provisions.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
