Do it Best Corp. Print Production Operator in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Print Production Operator Location: Fort Wayne, IN Level: Hourly Division / Department: Marketing & Ecommerce / Creative Operations Reports to: Print Operations Manager Travel: Minimal (local travel to vendors; occasional travel to Indianapolis for markets) About the Role: The Print Production Operator is responsible for the daily operation of digital print and finishing equipment within the Print & Mail Services department. This role ensures the accurate, efficient, and high-quality production of marketing and operational materials. This position focuses primarily on hands-on print production, file setup verification, equipment operation, finishing, and mail processing. The operator works closely with internal teams to ensure submitted files meet print specifications and that all materials are produced according to established standards and deadlines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, quality-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Print Equipment Operation

  • Operate digital press equipment to produce marketing and operational materials

  • Set up jobs according to specifications including paper stock, sizing, finishing requirements, and quantity

  • Monitor print runs to ensure color accuracy, alignment, and quality standards

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting

  • Report equipment issues or service needs to management promptly

  • File Preparation & Quality Control

  • Review incoming files to confirm proper formatting, sizing, bleed, resolution, and print readiness

  • Make minor file adjustments (resizing, formatting, layout corrections) as needed

  • Conduct quality checks throughout production to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Verify completed jobs against original job specifications before release

  • Finishing & Mail Processing

  • Perform finishing tasks including cutting, folding, binding, laminating, padding, and collating

  • Prepare materials for internal distribution or external mailing

  • Assist with mail processing and ensure compliance with postal requirements

  • Package completed jobs for delivery or shipment

  • Workflow & Production Support

  • Monitor job submission queue and prioritize work based on deadlines

  • Communicate with internal clients to clarify production specifications when necessary

  • Participate in daily production discussions to align on priorities

  • Maintain organized workspaces and follow all production schedules

  • Inventory & Compliance

  • Track and maintain inventory of paper, toner, and finishing supplies

  • Notify management when supplies require reordering

  • Follow all safety procedures and standard operating guidelines

  • Maintain a clean and safe production environment

    Education and Experience: Minimum

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience operating production equipment or working in a print, manufacturing, or production environment

Desired

  • Experience operating digital press equipment

  • Familiarity with print specifications and file setup requirements

  • Experience in finishing and mail processing operations

Skills and Abilities: Minimum

  • Strong attention to detail and quality control

  • Ability to manage multiple jobs in a deadline-driven environment

  • Basic troubleshooting skills for equipment and file issues

  • Ability to lift and move paper stock and materials as needed

  • Dependable with strong attendance and work ethic

  • Effective communication skills

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft 36 (Word and Excel)

  • Basic familiarity with design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools)
