In this role, you’ll champion a safety-first culture, lead a skilled technical team to deliver accurate and timely results, and serve as a trusted representative of Element during customer interactions. Responsibilities
Lead and support departmental initiatives aligned with site safety and quality standards
Partner with management to drive efficient operations, continuous improvement, and departmental growth
Supervise and mentor technical staff, ensuring accurate, timely delivery of testing services
Oversee daily lab operations with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction
Serve as a key contact for clients, providing responsive communication, status updates, and support during on-site visits
Collaborate with internal experts and support teams to define testing scopes and ensure successful project execution
Contribute to preparation of accurate, timely quotations and assist with complex proposals
Support supervisory functions including hiring input, performance feedback, scheduling, and staff development
Translate client needs into actionable testing plans that deliver reliable results and regulatory compliance
Champion a culture of safety and adherence to all Element quality and compliance standards
Contribute to project management and operational excellence initiatives as assigned
Skills / Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a technical field and college level courses completed or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in an industry similar or related to the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry with a diploma or GED certificate preferred
Working knowledge of laboratory safety
Strong computer skills and basic mathematical skills with the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Ability to lift <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion and stand on feet for long periods of time
Ability to work primarily alone and make independent decisions during the course of the work day
Ability to communicate and demonstrate the importance of meeting all applicable requirements of assigned department
Proven ability to read, understand and interpret program or test requirements and have ability to analyse and translate into finished testing or report data
Excellent communication skills and telephone etiquette
Proficient skill in word processing and spreadsheet software
High impact of experience on the business at the local commercial, technical and operational level
Proven and recognized ability to provide accurate and timely status reports to internal and external customers
Ability to track multiple testing jobs / programs from start to finish and assist with contract review of job status daily, including follow-up emails and phone calls daily to and from internal and external customers
