Brand Packaging Project Manager Location: Fort Wayne, IN Level: Salaried Division / Department: Marketing/Ecommerce Reports to: Director of Brand Management Travel: TBD About the Role: The Brand Packaging Project Manager is responsible for executing and ensuring the consistent application of private brand strategy across all assigned products and packaging. Reporting directly to the Director of Brand Management, this role serves as the central project management lead for packaging initiatives—coordinating across Marketing, Global Sourcing, Merchandising, Legal, Creative, and external vendors. This position owns the end-to-end packaging workflow, ensuring projects move efficiently from concept through production, adhere to established brand standards, meet regulatory requirements, and launch on time. The role also drives continuous improvement through post-mortem reviews, competitive research, and process optimization. Responsibilities include:

  • Brand Execution & Standards

  • Oversee brand implementation on private label products, ensuring consistent brand identity across products, packaging, and labels

  • Ensure all packaging adheres to established brand standards, visual identity, and messaging guidelines

  • Maintain and update brand and packaging documentation, templates, and guidelines as needed

  • Project Management & Workflow Ownership

  • Lead end-to-end project management for packaging initiatives, from initial specifications through final production

  • Utilize Monday.com to manage timelines, deliverables, dependencies, approvals, and stakeholder accountability

  • Ensure all project inputs are accurate, complete, and delivered on time for the Creative team

  • Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and scope changes; recommend and implement solutions

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Merchandising and Global Sourcing to align on product, packaging, and label specifications

  • Work directly with Legal to ensure all trademarks, licenses, regulatory requirements, and packaging specifications are met

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Brand, Creative, Sourcing, Merchandising, Legal, and vendors throughout the packaging lifecycle

  • Creative, Artwork & Proofing Management

  • Own and manage the packaging proofing process from initial artwork through final approval

  • Utilize Ziflow to execute, track, and document all artwork proofing and approvals with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensure all required reviewers (Brand, Legal, Merchandising, Global Sourcing, and vendors) are engaged at the appropriate stages of the proofing process

  • Enforce proofing timelines and approval deadlines to prevent project delays

  • Review and proof packaging artwork, labels, instruction sheets, and diagrams for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to brand standards

  • Ensure all feedback is consolidated, clearly communicated, and properly resolved prior to final approval

  • Maintain organized proofing records and approval history to support audits, compliance, and future reference

  • Vendor & External Partner Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international vendors related to packaging design and execution

  • Collaborate with vendors on print guidelines, specifications, expectations, and due dates

  • Communicate design updates, revisions, and production changes clearly and efficiently

  • Legal, Trademark & Compliance

  • Initiate and manage trademark processes, including documentation and coordination with Legal and other partners

  • Ensure all packaging content meets legal, regulatory, and compliance standards prior to production

  • Data, Documentation & Quality Control

  • Maintain and audit private label product and packaging data across systems, databases, and files

  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of product information throughout the packaging lifecycle

  • Perform quality control checks, audits, and reporting related to packaging and brand execution

  • Competitive Research & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct competitive and category research to evaluate packaging trends, claims, and consumer communication

  • Share insights and recommendations with Brand and Creative teams to keep packaging relevant and on trend

  • Lead post-mortem meetings following key projects to evaluate performance, identify improvements, and document learnings

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and cross-functional collaboration

  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Support packaging-related operational planning and process documentation

  • Assist with reporting, summaries, and presentations as needed

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Education and Experience: Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in Marketing, Brand Management, Merchandising, Operations, Supply Chain, Retail, or Wholesale

  • Strong project management experience in a cross-functional environment

  • Advanced organizational, communication, and follow-up skills

    Preferred

  • Experience with packaging design and development

  • Graphic design or creative production experience

  • Experience working with private label brands

  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements for packaging

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Monday.com – project management and workflow tracking

  • Ziflow – artwork proofing and approval management

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro – proofing, annotations, and markups

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
