Utilities Service, LLC Field Supervisor in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania
Description
We are currently seeking a Field Supervisor to support utility forestry operations across diverse environments, from urban neighborhoods to remote forested areas. As a Project Lead, your "office" is the great outdoors, where you play a vital role in maintaining safe and reliable power delivery.
In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between utility clients and field crews, ensuring vegetation management practices are carried out safely, efficiently, and in alignment with regulatory standards. You will help keep communities informed about the relationship between trees and power lines, while leading efforts to protect infrastructure and public safety.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead and coordinate a team of Contract Utility Foresters
Monitor daily operations, track assignment progress, and manage time sheets
Support onboarding and training of new team members
Provide ongoing guidance and field support
Report to the Regional Project Manager or Senior Field Operations Manager for decisions related to team performance, training needs, and operational planning.
All decisions related to team performance, training needs, and operational planning must be escalated to and approved by the Regional Project Manager or Senior Field Operations Manager.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Audit completed vegetation inspections and planned field work for compliance with client specifications.
Perform QA/QC reviews, implement corrective actions, and conduct follow-ups.
Review and submit deliverables to clients, ensuring consistency across regions.
Asist with internal company needs including fleet, equipment, and training management.
Safety incidents and compliance concerns must be escalated to the Regional Project Manager or Senior Field Operations Manager for formal review and action.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as a primary point of contact for client needs and inquiries.
Maintain ongoing communication to support project goals and resolve issues.
Exhibit strong negotiation skills to address and resolve complaints effectively.
Coordinate with leadership on client feedback, budget considerations, and strategic adjustments.
Field Operations & Planning
Inspect power line rights-of-way to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance.
Develop maintenance plans including machine work, herbicide application, capital projects, and emergency response.
Notify property owners of assessments and obtain necessary permissions.
Research and document property ownership for notification purposes.
Collaborate with the Regional Project Manager or Sr. Field Operations Manager to align field planning with budget targets and regional priorities.
Technology & Documentation
Record and document field data using mobile devices and GIS software.
Ensure accurate and timely data entry and reporting.
Provide updates to leadership on data trends, reporting accuracy, and system issues.
Safety & Other Duties
Operate with the highest level of personal and public safety.
Perform other duties as assigned by ArborMetrics or the client.
Report all safety incidents and near misses to the Regional Project Manager or Sr. Field Operations Manager immediately for incident management.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
18+ Months experience in Utility Vegetation Management
Demonstrated leadership and Project Management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to represent Arbormetrics and its services in a professional and positive manner.
Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
Must have solid tree identification skills and the ability to read maps.
Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
Must have excellent computer skills
WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
Previous employee oversight experience
Bachelor’s or associate degree in forestry, Environmental Science or related field preferred.
Previous Forester/Arboriculture/Tree Care working experience.
ISA, TRAQ, TCSP, or other VM related certifications.
Working Environment
Work with a team and alone; primarily in an outdoor field environment and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors in the vicinity of power lines and/or pipelines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including: walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, rocky, sandy, uneven, rough, unstable, steep terrain, hills and slopes, dense vegetation; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and all types of weather extremes including snow, ice, fog, humidity, and low and high temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. Other working conditions may include: in a vehicle or limited time in an indoor office.
Physical
The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties (e.g., forcefully beat down brush); carry, push and/or pull light to heavy amounts of weight, frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. (sandbags); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
