Position summary: JMT is looking for a Construction Engineering Senior Inspector to assist engineers with the completion of Water/Wastewater and Utility construction projects in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Essential functions and responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, pump stations, utilities and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes - to include water and sewer utilities
Conduct regular inspections of roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, flatwork, etc. to verify compliance with approved plans and contract documents
Provide field engineering, construction management and contract support services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests and change orders) as needed on site and in office
Ensure that construction workmanship and materials adhere to established industry standards and meet project specifications
Accurately document all construction inspection activities by creating daily reports and maintaining organized, detailed, and up to date field files
Oversee and coordinate material testing activities to ensure materials used meet project specifications
Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
Participate in close out activities, including preparation of deficiency lists and final inspection reports
Communicate effectively and collaboratively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, designers, and other engineers
Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
Operate and have the ability to upload, download and manage files in a Project Management Information System, PMIS, i.e. Procore, eBuilder etc.
Provide input and participate in client, contractor and staff progress meetings.
Gathers and maintains record documents
Makes field notes and computations
Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
Manage subordinate field staff and support office engineering staff

Required Skills
Strong Computer proficiency
Strong in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Active driver’s license
Required Experience
High school degree/equivalent or better
8+ years of related experience on field projects.
Strong understanding of municipal specifications, governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practices
Must be able to read plans and specifications
Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
Willing to travel within the state of FL as needed
Client requested certifications
Preferred Experience
Experience and understanding of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, general underground utility construction and rehabilitation works.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
