Job Title: Project Accountant
Job Description
As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for client invoicing across a high volume of active projects, including those funded by FDOT. This role involves collections management, project budgeting, and providing backup support for coding and processing accounts payable, timesheets, and expense reports. You will ensure the preparation, review, and maintenance of accurate contract documentation, administration, fee schedules, and budget entry, complying with FDOT and client requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage client invoicing and collections across multiple projects.
Prepare, review, and maintain contract documentation ensuring compliance with FDOT and client requirements.
Collaborate with section leaders and project personnel to deliver timely and accurate contract performance and financial data.
Identify and resolve billing, budget, and compliance issues proactively.
Coordinate and maintain the project accounting system, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and regulations.
Support multiple project managers and teams daily.
Perform additional duties as needed to support department and project objectives.
Essential Skills
Experience with FDOT projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including Vlookup and pivot tables), Word, and Outlook.
Strong invoicing, accounts payable, billing, collection, and expense report skills.
Project accounting support and high-volume invoicing experience.
Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling, and telephone skills.
Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Capability to collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Work Environment
The position reports to the Accounting Principal and Sr. Accountant. The company culture promotes growth and offers the opportunity to work directly with Project Accountants handling over 55+ projects. The work environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and encourages flexibility and prioritization.

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $31.25/hr.
