Position Summary

The Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University seeks applications from chemistry instructors who are interested in adjunct (temporary), contract (special), or continuing (special) assignments at Colorado State University.

Instructors contribute to the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University primarily through their commitment to teaching undergraduate courses or supervising laboratory instruction, as well as their interest in improving teaching and learning in the department through other activities. In general, instructors are expected to interact with other members of the department including faculty, staff, and students to enrich and enhance the undergraduate education program offered by the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University.

Brief Work Unit Description

The Department of Chemistry has an international reputation for excellence in research across a broad array of disciplines, including analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, materials and physical chemistry. Ph.D. graduates receive world-class training, participate in cutting-edge (and often interdisciplinary) research projects, and are employed at all levels of academia and industry around the globe. The faculty also enjoy an award-winning reputation for teaching excellence. The Department’s research efforts are supported by a state-of-the-art Analytical Resources Core that provides 24/7 student access to shared instrumentation.

Salary Range

$48,000 - $65,000

Essential Job Duties

Essential job duties vary depending on the classes instructors are being hired to teach, but may include:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses.

  • Supervising laboratory instruction.

  • Improving methods for chemistry instruction.

  • Mentoring undergraduate students in outreach activities.

  • Developing new lecture demonstrations.

  • Developing and revising peer evaluation tools.

Conditions of Employment

Pre-employment criminal background check (required for new hires).

Supervision

This position is responsible for the supervision of their assigned classes, of which group sizes may vary.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a master's degree in an appropriate discipline.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U. S. A. by the proposed start date, and for the full dates of the appointment.

The department of Chemistry does not guarantee financial visa support for hires from this pool.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants who hold a Ph. D. degree in an appropriate discipline are strongly preferred.
