Chemistry Rx Compounding Technician (2nd Shift) in Folcroft, Pennsylvania

Compounding Technician, 2nd Shift Properly use all equipment in the lab that is necessary to make non-sterile compounds, following all safety and USP guidelines for preparation of compounded medications. Nonsterile compounding may include but is not limited to compounding of capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, tablet triturates or lollipops. Interacting professionally and efficiently while upholding HIPAA standards. This shift is Monday-Friday from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Ideal candidate would be open to work Saturday mornings to get additional hours but would still be considered a full time position if not.

Responsibilities:

  • Following applicable compounding Standard Operating Procedures
  •  Using a computerized compounding system, weigh and record the chemicals included in the formulas; then combine the chemicals into the appropriate dosage form as requested by the prescription
  •  Resolves compounding issues when they arise by communicating with a pharmacist
  • Appropriately selects and measures the ingredients necessary to compound all formulations
  •  Correctly sorts and labels ingredients. Pulls expired medications monthly
  •  Monitors inventory and requests more of any ingredient or supplies needed on the order sheet in a timely manner such that the pharmacy does not run out of the ingredient to an extent that it prevents a prescription from being compounded on time
  •  Entry of prescription orders, be able to read the order and enter it correctly to prepare a label
  •  Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment and pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; follow cleanroom protocol, testing, and documentation.
  •  Performs administrative tasks (e.g., record-keeping) as assigned
  •  Compounds medications under the supervision of pharmacist
  •  Complies with all security measures and quality standards
  •  Monitor inventory levels for re-order of low inventory or expiring chemicals, receive new inventory, maintain SDS and Certificates of Analysis and perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning using appropriate disinfectants and techniques.
  •  Environmental monitoring and verification testing must be performed according to policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  Position requires hand dexterity, attention to detail, performing tasks that require fine motor skills, precision and hand eye coordination.  Ability to lift up to thirty pounds.  Employe must be comfortable working with hormones and other potentially hazardous chemicals are used in nonsterile compounding.
