SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining close, continuous surveillance of all gaming areas and the entire property, in order to protect life and property at the casino. Responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of all surveillance employees on assigned shift, in the absence of the Surveillance Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitors all areas of the property at all times, identifying potential security and/or safety risks and reporting them to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution.
  2. Ensures the quality of operations in the Surveillance Department on assigned shift.
  3. Advises surveillance employees on assigned shift of duties and responsibilities, and ensures that they are completed in a timely, efficient manner.
  4. Utilizes necessary equipment, to identify, record, document and report illegal, suspicious or unusual activities occurring on property.
  5. Maintains a working knowledge of all rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission and ensures strict adherence to same throughout the property.
  6. Protects casino assets and gaming integrity, through the consistent, thorough monitoring of all activities on property, particularly on the gaming floor.
  7. Directs the flow of surveillance reports to the proper individuals within the casino, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  8. Regularly inspects the premises, identifying potential safety or security hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution.
  9. Maintains appropriate staffing levels in the Surveillance Department, by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating employees, as needed.
  10. Reviews surveillance tapes and reports, providing detailed information to appropriate casino officials and outside agencies, as needed.
  11. Coordinates, with the Security Department, when surveillance discovers a matter which needs further investigation or attention.
  12. Facilitates the flow of information throughout the department, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  13. Held accountable for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
  14. Makes suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, with regard to possible changes in the policies and procedures of other departments, with the protection of casino assets in mind.
  15. Directly supervises the activities of all of the surveillance employees on assigned shift.
  16. All other duties as assigned.

REPORTING LINE

You will report directly to the Manager and then the Director.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be experienced in and knowledgeable of craps.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be polite, and present a neat appearance at all times.
  • The ability to work with others as a team in an efficient manner.
  • The ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations

  • Proven experience providing high level of guest service

  • The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide
  • The ability to read, write, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English

  • The availability to work all shifts.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stressful situations.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company.
  • The ability to verify the right to work in the United States.

EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in criminal justice or related area from a four-year college or university preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of and experience with closed circuit television equipment preferred. Must possess excellent observational and communication skills. Must be able to det ct schemes or cheating activity aimed at the casino or its guests.
