Sign Installer / Crew Leader
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Sign Installer to join our growing team. This role involves installing, servicing, and maintaining a wide range of signage including illuminated and non-illuminated signs, architectural signage, pylons, monuments, vehicle graphics, vinyl applications, billboards, and digital displays. The ideal candidate will have a background in signage, electrical work, or general construction, and will be comfortable working at heights, operating various equipment, and representing our company with professionalism on job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and remove all types of signage (interior and exterior), including electrical and non-electrical signs, channel letters, pole signs, monument signs, vinyl graphics, and LED message boards.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, site plans, elevation drawings, and installation schematics.
- Load, transport, and unload signage materials safely and efficiently.
- Perform on-site measurements, pre-install checks, and post-install inspections.
- Operate tools and equipment such as drills, saws, cranes, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and ladders.
- Complete basic electrical work such as wiring signs to power sources and testing lighting systems.
- Ensure installations are safe, code-compliant, and meet local permit requirements.
- Maintain job records, including installation documentation, photos, and work orders.
- Communicate with clients, site supervisors, and project managers to ensure expectations are met.
- Perform maintenance or repairs as needed, including bulb/LED replacements and structural repairs.
- Adhere to all OSHA and company safety protocols, including the use of PPE, fall protection, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school or certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, NCCCO, or CDL) are a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in sign installation, electrical work, construction, or related fields preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, construction plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Skilled in operating hand and power tools, including aerial lifts and cranes.
- Familiarity with local electrical and building codes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Reliable transportation to job sites and warehouse/shop.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts, rooftops) and in confined spaces.
- Able to stand, kneel, climb, and bend for extended periods.
- Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical or drug test (if applicable).
