- This position is posted as Assistant Coach, Soccer - Goalkeeper Coach, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Assistant Coach, Intermediate - Soccer.
- Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver\'s license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. The Northern Arizona University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 15 men\'s and women\'s NCAA Division-I programs with more than 350 student-athlete participants. The university is a member of the Big Sky Conference for all sports with the exception of women\'s swimming and diving, which competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).
About the Position
The Goalkeeper Coach is responsible for the development, performance, and management of all goalkeepers within a Division I women\'s soccer program. This position supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including training, recruiting, match preparation, and student-athlete development, while maintaining compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
Responsibilities Include
40% - Goalkeeper Development, Match Preparation & Game Day Duties
- Plan and implement specialized training sessions for goalkeepers (technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development).
- Analyze goalkeeper performance during training and matches using video and data tools Develop individualized training plans and performance goals for each goalkeeper.
- Monitor fitness, recovery, and injury prevention specific to the goalkeeper position.
- Assist in scouting opponents, with emphasis on attacking tendencies and set pieces Prepare goalkeepers for upcoming opponents (penalty tendencies, crossing patterns, etc.).
- Provide in-game analysis and adjustments for goalkeepers Support overall team tactical execution as directed by the Head Coach.
20% - Recruiting
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athlete goalkeepers.
- Build and maintain a recruiting database specific to goalkeeper prospects.
- Coordinate campus visits and maintain communication with recruits and club coaches Represent the program at recruiting events, showcases, and tournaments.
20% - Student-Athlete Development & Program Support
- Foster a positive, competi ive, and growth-oriented goalkeeper culture Support academic success, personal development, and leadership growth.
- Mentor goalkeepers on time management, resilience, and mental performance.
- Assist with overall team training sessions as assigned Collaborate with strength & conditioning, sports medicine, and performance staff Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and program planning.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, travel planning, and equipment management.
15% - Rules Compliance
All coaches have a duty to cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, Big Sky Conference and NAU with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations as mandated by NCAA.
Bylaw 10.1. Satisfactory rules knowledge and rules compliance are conditions of employment. This position, in particular, will fully participate and cooperate in compliance-related activities, procedures and evaluation. Coaches are held to strict NCAA guidelines regarding all of the following
