Robert Half Staff Accountant in Fitchburg, Massachusetts
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a growing organization in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. This Contract position offers an opportunity to contribute to core accounting operations while helping maintain accurate financial records and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across day-to-day accounting activities and assisting with additional projects as business needs evolve.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices, review payment details for accuracy, and support timely accounts payable activities.
• Manage customer billing and cash application tasks while maintaining accurate accounts receivable records.
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger.
• Reconcile account balances and investigate discrepancies to help maintain reliable financial data.
• Assist with sales tax tracking, reporting, and related documentation requirements.
• Support corporate tax processes, including preparation assistance for corporate tax return activities.
• Help organize financial information for month-end close and other periodic reporting needs.
• Contribute to special accounting projects and provide additional support as priorities shift. Requirements • Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
• Ability to prepare journal entries accurately and maintain supporting documentation.
• Familiarity with sales tax compliance and reporting requirements.
• Understanding of corporate tax concepts, including exposure to corporate tax return support.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools.
