The role is intended to elevate Edwards leadership in Public Affairs both externally and internally, broaden external engagement and develop partnerships with relevant stakeholders. The role will lead the implementation Market Access and Government Affairs programs to secure timely patient access and appropriate funding to the innovative technologies that Edwards brings to healthcare systems in Nordics & Baltics.
Through interactions and partnership with Ministries of Health, HTA bodies, Payers and Procurers, decision-makers and medical societies, the Market Access & Government Affairs role will engage with key stakeholders in Nordics and Baltics to define the best access pathways within the health care system to benefit patients, building an innovation-friendly environment with high ethical standards.
The role will implement Market Access & Government Affairs programs in alignment with the Business Units imperatives and Public Affairs EMEACLA (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Canada, Latin-America) strategy to secure patients’ access to Edwards Lifesciences innovations.
The role is part of Edwards Nordics Leadership Team, and of the EMEACLA Public Affairs Team.
How you will make an impact:
Lead the identification, prioritization and management of market access and governmental strategic issues that matter to Edwards Lifesciences Structural Heart Disease businesses, in close collaboration and alignment with the Country Leadership Team
Establish, maintain and strengthen a network of contacts with policymakers, government officials and agencies, as well as payers and procurers, HTA bodies, patient groups and medical societies
Define and implement Public Affairs strategy aiming at the prioritization of patient access to Structural Heart Disease innovations, in close cooperation with Business Units in delivering Edwards differentiated value proposition
Design and execute Public Affairs strategies aimed to elevate the role and recognition of Edwards Lifesciences in the healthcare decision making arena
Formulate and deliver the optimal access strategy for each of Edwards Lifesciences current and pipeline innovation mainly in the structural heart disease area by:
Understanding and anticipating trends in the external environment, assessing their impact and the opportunities for the company, and navigating these complex realities to support business growth.
Coordinating the implementation of the Public Affairs plans with the Nordics CLT and Regional EMEACLA teams and resources,
Engaging with authorities to ensure successful implementation of market access strategies to ultimately allow for funding and access of Edwards Lifesciences innovations.
Developing innovative access strategies, such as value-based procurement to ensure reward of Edwards breakthrough innovation, differentiated value tools and performing economic evaluations of new technologies,
Supporting cross-portfolio initiatives that impact hospital funding (e.g., procedure coding, DRG tariff updates, quality indicators),
What you’ll need:
15 years’ experience in market access and government affairs in the Medical Technology and/or pharmaceutical industry in Nordics and Baltics.
Bachelors degree with a postgraduate qualification, preferably a Master’s degree, in Lifesciences, Political Science, Law, Economics, or Business,
Comprehensive understanding of the external healthcare access policy and decision-making environment which influences current and future access and funding policies in Nordics and Baltics,
Knowledge and experience of health outcomes, health economics and social issues and trends in Nordics and Baltics,
Strong network among government officials, policy makers, Payers, HTA bodies, medical societies and patient organizations,
Critical to the role is the ability to engage with the Edwards Nordics Leadership Team and cross‑functional teams across the organization to develop and execute strategies that improve patient access to Edwards Lifesciences innovations,
Strong Business Acumen, Strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration mindset,
Strong communication skills, oral and written. Aptitude to influence senior individuals,
Recognized as an expert in Public Affairs, Government Affairs and Market Access, with strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills,
Ability to lead successful projects and teams in both local and international, fast‑paced matrix environments, with a strong sense of ownership and urgency,
Fluency in English (written and oral), Swedish and Preferably Scandinavian languages,
