Job Title: Concrete Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Materials Technician to join our team. The role involves working with concrete and soil on open construction sites, performing various tests to ensure quality and compliance with standards. This includes testing soil and concrete compaction, conducting sieve tests for soil grain analysis, and performing air tests to assess concrete quality. The position requires traveling to different sites within the Metro Detroit area using your own vehicle.
Responsibilities
Conduct density and compaction tests on soil and concrete using specialized gauges.
Perform sieve tests to analyze soil grain distribution.
Conduct air tests to evaluate the air content in concrete.
Drive to multiple construction sites, mainly within a 25-mile radius of your home.
Communicate effectively with construction workers to address and rectify issues.
Write daily reports and draw site maps to document observations and test results.
Record hours and mileage for weekly submission.
Essential Skills
Experience in construction and concrete testing.
Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs.
At least 1 year of experience in school or on-site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Earth Science or Geology preferred.
ACI or MCA certifications are advantageous.

Work Environment
You will predominantly work outdoors (95%) in various weather conditions at construction sites, with occasional lab work (5%). The role involves driving to sites, collaborating with teams, and working independently. Appropriate attire includes work boots and jeans; shorts or cut-off shirts are not permitted.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ferndale, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
