Job Title: R&D Engineer

Job Description

Join our innovative team as a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, prototyping, and project management of aerosol dispensing and packaging products. Engage in a role that blends research and development with project management and sales engineering. You will be tasked with designing solutions, managing multiple projects, and working closely with various teams, including QA, manufacturing, and tooling, to deliver industry-leading solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative mechanical components and dispensing devices for aerosol products using SolidWorks, focusing on injection molding, metal stamping, and 3D printing.

  • Manage full development cycles from concept through to successful market launch, including prototyping, testing, and documentation.

  • Build and test prototypes and evaluation fixtures, conduct performance and lifecycle testing, and drive continuous improvements.

  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, product specifications, and engineering change orders.

  • Provide expert technical support to manufacturing, quality assurance, sales, customer service, and external partners.

  • Uphold food packaging safety standards while ensuring lab and production areas are clean and efficient.

  • Contribute to team innovation and process improvements in a supportive environment.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Package Design, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical product design, preferably in aerosol, packaging, or high-volume manufacturing.

  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for modeling, assemblies, and drawings.

  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastic mold design, and high-speed manufacturing.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives.

  • Excellent technical writing, data analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D printing, Six Sigma, Lean, or project management tools is preferred but not required.

  • Background in aerosol filling/packaging systems is a plus.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of chemical principles relevant to aerosol products.

Work Environment

The role is primarily on-site at our manufacturing facility in Fenton, MO, with an office/cubicle for administrative tasks. The position includes customer visits approximately bi-monthly, with travel not exceeding 10-15%, typically for 1-2 nights. The work setting involves a mix of office, engineering lab, and factory production environments. Physical demands include occasional lifting of 20–50 lbs and frequent handling of 10–25 lbs. The role offers a flexible work culture with the benefit of every other Friday off, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $47.00/hr.
