Summary of Position


 

The Estimator organizes estimating activities of the specific projects as they relate to estimating and preconstruction activities. Estimators are responsible to develop and nurture relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients. Estimators are ultimately responsible for compiling the complete estimate for specific projects assigned under the supervision of the COO.

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Establishing Bid

  1. Review and analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documents
  2. Prioritize and organize deadlines for bids
  3. Determine and develop project general conditions
  4. Determine vendors and subcontractors for a project
  5. Set up and attend pre-bid walk-throughs
  6. Identify all bid items
  7. Develop an invitation to bid
  8. Complete bid form

Project Set-Up

  1. Determine the appropriate bid divisions
  2. Obtain and distribute project bid documents
  3. Contact and communicate with vendors and subcontractors
  4. Prepare quantity take-off
  5. Prepare preconstruction schedule

Project Bidding

  1. Review plans and specifications and request any additional information
  2. Follow up with subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers to ensure bid coverage
  3. Review and qualify submitted proposals
  4. Prepare detailed summaries of work
  5. Assemble the proposal documents
  6. Review the complete bid breakdown and proposal with the Chief Estimator
