The range for this position is $65,200 to $102,100 depending on experience and education.
Essential Functions:
This position reports to the Materials Manager and has no direct reports
Some domestic travel may be required with possible overnight stays
Secures spot quotations as necessary; manage shipment execution, loading, and deliveries for Pole, Communication Tower, T-Pole, Tubing, Irrigation or LTL shipments
Efficiently utilizes TMS capabilities such as MOJO and shipment process execution
Coordinates orders with shipping, marketing, and carriers for a timely and cost-effective delivery
Coordinates the customer service activities necessary to schedule and ship at acceptable margins
Demonstrates the ability to accept a variety of duties, as time permits, ranging from special projects as directed by business units, to filling in during short absences of key position personnel
Effectively communicates with customers and dealers, coordinating delivery appointments with carriers, to meet company deadlines
Coordinates the shipment of all truckload shipments from multiple locations
Initiates and maintains sufficient carrier contacts and communication to carry out objectives
Adheres to and follows established transportation policies, procedures, and objectives
Reviews reports as required to support business or customer needs
Other Important Details about the Role:
Assists Freight Specialists as needed in the Coordination of freight auditing and payment of all invoices for locations where applicable
Works with freight rating and coordinating software, Transportation Management System (TMS)
Works with on-staff DOT Safety Manager to be aware of Valmont’s DOT Compliance. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of DOT Compliance and Safety Requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation – Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Demonstrates excellent communication to interface with internal Valmont departments, as well as outside carriers, dealers, contractors, vendors, and customers
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Preferred Bachelors with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing/distribution setting in Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales or Customer Service; or Associates Degree with 5+ years relevant experience; or 7+ years of relevant experience
Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy, follow through, and communication
Ability to quote logistics moves in a cost-effective and time critical manner utilizing technology available
Ability to analyze data to effectively suggest adjustments to the route guide effectiveness
Excellent planning and organizational skills exhibited under tight deadlines with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer
The knowledge and experience necessary to assist with all aspects of logistics process
Positive, professional demeanor in all interaction with colleagues, carriers, customers, and vendors
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to communicate with all levels of the workforce and management clearly and concisely
Ability to work with people in a professional and respectful manner, address issues in a constructive way, and speak with confidence in areas related to logistics
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Incumbent must be able to work in an office setting. This position may require the incumbent to work outside during all seasons of the year, in various manufacturing and storage areas, as well as office environments. As a result, the position may require walking, standing, lifting, and stooping. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Minimal travel may be required within domestic U.S. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk, hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
