University of Maine System Admissions Specialist in Farmington, Maine

Would you like to become the essential link between aspiring students and their future at the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF)? We are currently seeking applicants for an Admissions Specialist.

In this role, you will serve as the primary educator and mentor for first-year and transfer students, helping families and counselors navigate the complexities of the college selection process. You are the operational heart of the Admissions Office, masterfully managing daily communications and orchestrating a seamless visitor experience - from personal walk-ins to major campus events.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the anticipated annual salary is up to $40,000 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Provide high-quality service to prospective students and community members regarding admissions and visitor opportunities.

  • Recruitment Strategy: Collaborate with the professional admission team to design and implement marketing and recruitment communication plans.

  • Territory Support: Assist admission counselors with planning and executing recruitment activities within assigned geographical territories.

  • Diversity Initiatives: Support the recruitment of diverse and underrepresented student populations in alignment with office goals.

  • Application Review: Conduct detailed first-review evaluations of applicant transcripts to inform admission decisions.

  • Outreach: Engage in extensive telemarketing and telephone contact with students, families, and counselors.

  • Event Execution: Organize and execute on-campus visitation programming, including Open Houses and Accepted Student Days.

  • Professional Engagement: Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and local travel as required.

  • Technology Utilization: Proficiency in computer use and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.

  • Team Building & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively both as an independent contributor and as a collaborative team member.

  • Flexibility: This position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends during various time periods.,

    Required Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and up to three (3) years of relevant professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

  • Licensing: Must possess a valid Driver's License (in accordance with UMS standards)

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Education: Master's degree.

  • Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of experience speciffically within Admissions or a closely related professional field.

  • Target Audience Experience: Previous experience working with high school or college-bound students and their families.

    The University of Maine at Farmington employees are Mandatory Reporters with the exception of UMF’s licensed, clinical medical providers (including athletic trainers) and mental health providers and their clinical interns when working in their capacity as providers.
