Position Overview
The Commercial Leasing Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial properties and leading the full lifecycle of leasing transactions. This role oversees negotiating and drafting commercial lease agreements, letters of intent, and requests for proposals while managing both client and broker relationships. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong real estate acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex deals from initial prospect engagement through execution.
This position reports to the Managing Director – Leasing and collaborates closely with Friedman’s internal teams (construction, legal, accounting, brokerage, and property management), as well as third‑party clients, and external brokers.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Lifecycle Management
Manage the entire leasing process, including initial broker communication, prospect qualification, proposal development, RFP responses, and lease negotiation
Lead deal structuring and evaluation of leasing opportunities
Oversee renewals, relocations, and new lease initiatives for assigned portfolio
Coordinate with legal teams to review, draft, and negotiate lease documents, amendments, and term sheets
Portfolio & Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring consistent communication and a high level of service
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, property owners, and tenants to drive deal outcomes
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of experience in commercial leasing, real estate negotiations, asset management, brokerage, or related commercial real estate roles
Demonstrated experience negotiating lease terms, reviewing legal documents, and understanding core leasing terminology
Strong relationship management skills with the ability to interface effectively with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
Preferred
Law degree or paralegal degree/certificate
Experience working with third‑party clients and managing a portfolio of commercial assets
Proficiency with CRM or lease-tracking systems
