Drive System Design, Inc Chief Engineer (Software and Controls) - Business Development in Farmington Hills, Michigan

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Identify, secure, and expand business opportunities in industries including automotive, commercial truck, off-highway machinery, aerospace & aviation, defense, robotics, and industrial automation.
  • Leverage existing industry contacts and develop new executive-level customer relationships.
  • Represent DSD at conferences, technical forums, trade shows, and customer engagement events.
  • Lead or support creation of proposals, competitive bids, technical statements of work (SOWs), and commercial negotiations.
  • Drive commercial strategy for software and controls engineering offerings.
  • Collaborate with DSD's leadership to define go-to-market strategies and growth plans aligned with new sector expansion and global engineering sourcing.
  • Advise customers on technology roadmaps for propulsion controls, automation, robotics, safety-critical software and system integration.
  • Customer facing lead to support engineering team with project delivery and financial alignment

Team & Stakeholder Leadership

  • * *Act as a technical and commercial interface between customers, engineering teams, and DSD executive leadership.
  • Mentor engineering staff, helping develop technical expertise and offerings in software, controls, model-based development, and system integration.
  • Coordinate with DSD's global engineering centers in the UK, India, and future regions to scale delivery capability.
  • Champion DSD's culture of innovation, collaboration, and high-quality execution.
