Job Description

The Buyer supports the purchasing function by quoting, planning, ordering, and tracking the delivery of components across assigned categories. This role monitors inventory levels against departmental goals, identifies improvement opportunities, and collaborates with team members to determine and execute appropriate actions. The position also provides administrative support to the purchasing team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of purchasing-related transactions within the ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Quote, plan, order, and track delivery of components across assigned purchasing categories.

  • Monitor overall inventory levels against departmental goals and identify actions to optimize inventory performance.

  • Collaborate with team members to determine the correct plan of action for inventory and purchasing issues.

  • Provide administrative support to the purchasing team, including data entry and documentation.

  • Enter and process invoices accurately and in a timely manner within the ERP system.

  • Transfer funds and maintain accurate records of purchasing-related financial transactions.

  • Maintain and update the purchasing schedule to support on-time delivery and operational needs.

  • Support supply chain management activities by coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Assist with supplier management tasks, including tracking deliveries and resolving basic issues.

  • Work effectively within a cross-functional, tight-knit team to support purchasing and supply chain objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems, with a strong preference for Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).

  • Experience in purchasing or procurement support, including working with purchasing schedules.

  • Ability to provide administrative support, including accurate data entry and documentation.

  • Experience entering and processing invoices in a business or purchasing environment.

  • Ability to perform funds transfers and handle basic purchasing-related financial transactions.

  • Understanding of supply chain management and supplier management fundamentals.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as ordering, tracking, and scheduling.

  • Ability to collaborate with a team to determine and execute appropriate plans of action.

  • Attention to detail when tracking deliveries, maintaining schedules, and monitoring inventory.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a purchasing or supply chain function within a manufacturing or service-oriented environment.

  • Familiarity with an ERP integration or transition, particularly to D365.

  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams to support broader operational goals.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and suggest actions to improve inventory performance.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in Farmington, working within a cross-functional, tight-knit purchasing and supply chain team. The schedule is Monday through Friday with core hours of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility on start and stop times. The environment emphasizes collaboration, internal growth opportunities, and supporting a growing product and service business recognized as a leader in automatic door manufacturing, installation, and servicing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Farmington, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
