This announcement will be used to fill a Special Teacher-Outreach Specialist position at the MN State Academies. The position posted is to fill a vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year. The potential start date for this position could be July or August 2026.
This is a ten month per year position; the work schedule follows the school calendar.There may be additional outreach days offered during the summer months.In addition, there is potential for hours in July for ESY/summer school.
Under general supervision, this position contributes to outreach efforts and the design and delivery of academic instructional programs to Deaf/hard of hearing, Blind or Deafblind students, their families and those who work with them.
This position requires the following:
The ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality work
The ability to develop positive relationships with students, families, school districts and stakeholders.
Positions working with students who are Deaf at MN State Academies require American Sign Language (ASL) skills. Candidates will be assessed for signing skills prior to hire.
Minimum Qualifications
A valid Deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) Minnesota Teacher license OR the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Three years of teaching experience working with Deaf/hard of hearing and/or Deafblind students and families
Knowledge of best practices related to educating Deaf/hard of hearing and Deafblind students
Skill in writing basic reports, using arithmetic, and reading and interpreting charts and graphs
Demonstration of advance skills in American Sign Language
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Demonstration of skills in collaborative planning
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in providing online instructions to Deaf/hard of hearing students and/or Deafblind students
Experience presenting information related to deaf/hard of hearing and/or deaf/blind students in a professional setting
Experience creating flyers, presentations and other print/digital content
Experience planning and executing events such as school events, Deaf/hard of hearing events
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
