    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month Position, Full-Time

    START DATE: July 1, 2026

    SALARY RANGE: $120,000-$140,000 per school year

    *Actual Salary is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Salary.

    DEFINITION:The Director of Safety and Security reports to the Executive Director of Operations. The Director of Safety and Security supervises all security personnel, is a liaison with all BOCES departments, facilitates and works cooperatively with BOCES and component school district facility administrators, and collaborates with local law enforcement agencies. This position requires a high degree of skill in building and maintaining interpersonal communication with students, staff, and a variety of community representatives.

    TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

    1. Staff Personnel Management
  • Provide direction and evaluate staff performance.

  • Determine staff needs, recruit and make recommendations for appointment of new staff positions.

  • Oversee and encourage personal growth and development of Campus Security Officers.

  • Serve as a role model and mentor regarding appropriate professional behavior.

    1. Communications
  • Participate in BOCES administrative decision making as a member of the administrative staff.

  • Communicate with representatives of all BOCES programs and community agencies.

  • Coordinate the preparation of materials used to disseminate information about incident report writing and emergency management.

  • Facilitate and oversee building access and alarm management.

    1. Business and Fiscal Management
  • Consult with BOCES administration, staff and community service personnel and prepare annual office budget.

  • Manage the office of Security within budget guidelines.

  • Supervise the management of records and reports pertaining to the financial operations of this office.

    1. Facilities Management
  • Develop plans and strategies to maintain all workspace as a safe and secure environment.

  • Develop suggestions based on best practices to organize equipment in classroom space.

  • Participate, with Operations and Maintenance administration, in periodic safety inspections throughout all facilities.

    1. Curriculum and Instruction Management
  • Oversee local health and safety curriculum and system development.

  • Monitor instruction and service to ensure quality.

  • Evaluate all health and safety services and recommend changes or adjustments.

  • Manage and guide the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system of training for Monroe One BOCES programs and staff.

  • Provide all mandatory Safety and Security training to staff including Emergency Responses in the School Setting, Cardiac Emergency Response, and Workplace Violence Prevention.

    1. Management of Student Services
  • Develop plans and strategies to maintain all classroom space as a safe and secure environment.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance administration to support safety practices and protocols within the vocational classes.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Behavioral Health in the oversight and reporting of the Dignity Act for All Students processes and data.

    1. Comprehensive Planning
  • Monitor the Safety and Security Office services to ensure compliance with state and local directives.

  • Collaborate with program and department administrators to foster safe and healthy work and school environments.

  • Oversee and support the facilitation of several committees including the BOCES-wide Health and Safety Committee, the Threat Assessment Team, and the building level safety teams.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Behavioral Health in the development, oversight, and implementation of the Code of Conduct.

  • Act as Title IX/Complaint investigator.

    1. Professional and Personal Development
  • Provide Security staff with opportunities and encouragement to pursue professional growth and development.

  • Personally participate in appropriate educational and training activities in order to build and improve leadership, management and security training skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NYS School Administrator certification required.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.

  • At least five years prior experience as a school administrator or similar supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience regarding BOCES programs, services and operations preferred.

  • Knowledge of school safety and security preferred.

  • Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
