Job Title: Utility Worker / Production Floater
Job Description
The Utility Worker / Production Floater plays a key role in supporting multiple departments within a busy manufacturing facility. In this versatile position, you move between welding, fabrication, paint preparation, and assembly areas to help meet daily production demands. You fill gaps on the production line, assist specialized operators, and help maintain a smooth, efficient workflow across the shop floor.
Responsibilities
Rotate between various production departments, including fabrication, paint preparation, and assembly, based on daily operational needs.
Support general production activities such as loading, unloading, packaging, and material handling to keep the production line running efficiently.
Assist with machine operation and basic machine setup under established procedures and guidance.
Use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks in different work areas.
Perform basic cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
Conduct visual inspections and basic quality control checks to help ensure products meet established standards.
Assist with inventory-related tasks, such as counting, organizing, and staging materials for production.
Operate a forklift when needed to move materials, parts, and finished products around the facility, following all safety guidelines.
Adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments, providing support wherever production demand is highest.
Follow all safety policies and procedures, remain aware of moving parts and equipment, and use appropriate protective practices in areas with fumes or airborne particles.
Demonstrate reliability and strong attendance to support consistent production output.
Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors to identify and address production issues.
Essential Skills
1–3 years of experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to perform general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, packaging, and cleaning.
Experience with general production processes and workflow in a manufacturing setting.
Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively.
Basic machine operation and machine setup experience.
Forklift experience and ability to move materials safely within a production facility.
Strong quality control awareness and ability to perform basic inspections.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand how parts and equipment function.
High level of adaptability and willingness to rotate between fabrication, paint preparation, and assembly departments.
Trustworthy and dependable, with a strong record of great attendance.
Safety-oriented mindset with consistent adherence to safety procedures and guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Comfort working in a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment.
Ability to work effectively with different teams and departments across the shop floor.
Strong work ethic and positive attitude that supports a collaborative culture.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairmont, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
