The QC LIMS Specialist supports laboratory operations by ensuring data integrity, scientific accuracy, and regulatory compliance within a dynamic environmental testing environment. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing the LIMS platform and related database systems, developing and supporting reporting tools, and ensuring that laboratory workflows run efficiently and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory operations by maintaining high standards of data integrity, scientific accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure that laboratory workflows within the LIMS are configured, maintained, and optimized for efficient and accurate sample and data processing.

  • Support and maintain LIMS integrations and instrument interfaces to ensure seamless data transfer between analytical instruments and the LIMS.

  • Enhance, develop, and maintain SQL Server database systems that support LIMS and related laboratory applications.

  • Create and maintain management and data reports using Crystal Reports and/or Microsoft Access to support operational and quality control needs.

  • Develop customized electronic data deliverables (EDD) in CSV, tab-delimited, and Excel formats to meet internal and external reporting requirements.

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance Access VBA programs used for reporting, data processing, and laboratory support tools.

  • Provision, install, configure, and maintain computer systems and infrastructure that support laboratory information systems and associated applications.

  • Develop and maintain regulatory reporting formats to ensure compliance with applicable environmental and quality regulations.

  • Collaborate closely with the laboratory director and laboratory staff to understand workflow requirements and translate them into effective LIMS configurations and reports.

  • Monitor LIMS data quality and integrity, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent data discrepancies and system errors.

  • Document system configurations, workflows, and reporting formats to support ongoing maintenance, audits, and knowledge transfer.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience with Clinisys Element LIMS (version 6 or version 7).

  • Chemistry experience in a laboratory setting.

  • Hands-on experience with LIMS configuration, integrations, and instrument interfaces.

  • Strong technical expertise in databases, including experience enhancing and maintaining SQL Server database systems.

  • Proficiency with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access.

  • Ability to develop customized electronic data deliverables (EDD) in CSV, tab-delimited, and Excel formats.

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Microsoft Access VBA programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to provision, install, configure, and maintain computer systems and related infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and QC analysis in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to develop and maintain regulatory reporting formats to support compliance.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific field or in computer science.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Environmental laboratory experience, particularly in RCRA-focused testing, is preferred.

  • Experience working in a quality control or R&D laboratory environment.

  • Familiarity with environmental testing workflows and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system and data issues.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and leadership to understand requirements and implement solutions.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and scientific accuracy.

Work Environment

The QC LIMS Specialist works on-site within an environmental testing laboratory and reports to the laboratory director. The role involves close collaboration with laboratory personnel to support LIMS data accuracy, integrity, and workflow efficiency. The environment is technology-driven, using tools such as Clinisys Element LIMS, SQL Server, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, and Access VBA, as well as standard computer systems and laboratory instruments. The position operates within a regulated, quality-focused setting where adherence to environmental and reporting standards is critical, and where reliable, accurate data management is central to daily operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $58.00/hr.
