Position Description:

CGI is seeking an Associate S/4HANA SAP ABAP Developer to support an SAP S/4HANA Greenfield implementation project for a large government contract. As an Associate Developer, you will participate in various stages of the application lifecycle, from design to deployment. You will assist in converting user requirements into Technical Design Specifications and contribute to developing ABAP solutions that align with these designs. You will also have the opportunity to learn from experienced developers and engage in maintainable development practices and code reviews.

This project operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, utilizing Agile/Scrum methodology to rapidly build solutions based on customer requirements. You are encouraged to explore new technologies and suggest improvements to business processes. Success in this role will be driven by your developing technical skills, proactive problem-solving, eagerness to learn, and effective communication with our clients.

This position is located in one of CGI Federal's offices in Fairfax, VA, Lebanon, VA, Lafayette, LA or Knoxville, TN; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to work in a CGI Federal office two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design and develop comprehensive solutions within the S/4HANA platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with complex business objectives.

• Develop and manage integrations between S/4HANA and external systems using advanced technologies and protocols, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.

• Analyze and enhance system performance and business processes within S/4HANA, leveraging advanced tools and techniques to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

• Utilize SAP Gateway Service Builder to develop SAP OData entities, enabling consumption by external applications using the HTTP(s) protocol.

• Participate in the analysis of customer business operations to validate requirements and scope, proactively suggesting process improvements.

• Work closely with business and technical teams to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into effective S/4HANA solutions that align with organizational goals.

• Develop and maintain detailed SAP documentation, conducting thorough unit, integration, and release testing to validate functionality and ensure quality.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Due to the nature of the contract requirements, this position requires U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a CGI background check prior to beginning work. Candidates must also have the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.

• Up to 1 year of experience in SAP ABAP development and overall SAP exposure is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with S/4HANA is a plus.

• Basic understanding of integrating backend SAP and non-SAP applications is desirable.

• Exposure to SAP ABAP development and HANA CDS Views is advantageous.

• Interest or foundational knowledge in SAP Fiori and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) is beneficial.

• Experience working with Web Services, Proxies, and APIs for seamless system integration.

• Knowledge and hands-on experience in debugging and performance tuning of ABAP programs.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a way that builds rapport and supports understanding for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to analyze problems and provide clear recommendations.

• Capable of self-learning new technologies in the UI space, working with minimal direction and supervision.

Desired qualifications:

• Exposure to a wide range of ABAP technologies, including Reports, RFCs, Forms, Object-Oriented ABAP (OOP), BAPIs, Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits, Customer Exits, and Data Conversions (BDC, LSMW, IDocs, ALE, and Workflows).
