The Signers Business Office (SBO) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiscal Technician to join our team! As part of the SBO, youll work in a dynamic office that provides essential financial support to our faculty, staff, and students.
Our team plays a vital role in helping the university community navigate and comply with a variety of federal, state, and university policies and procedures. We partner with approximately 40 departments and units across UAF, supporting their financial operations and contributing to the broader mission of the university.
In this role, youll assist with processing purchase requests, reconciling accounts, and supporting Fiscal Officers in managing unit funds. We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of purchasing and fiscal procedures, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment.

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience as a Fiscal Technician in a university or similarly complex setting. A strong foundation in fiscal procedures and a keen attention to detail are essential. Just as important, however, is the ability to communicate effectivelyboth verbally and in writingwith a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and colleagues across campus.
We are looking for a team player who is collaborative, approachable, and proactive in problem-solving. The preferred candidate will demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a willingness to pursue additional training or education to enhance both individual performance and the departments overall effectiveness.
Excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are key to success in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of college coursework in Accounting or related field and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in accounting, statistics or related field and 6 months professional fiscal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Position Details:
This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and
full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the
UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
