The Role: Packaging Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Packaging Engineer to join our EMEA team. In this pivotal role, you will be the technical linchpin between our sales teams, product management, and our customers. You will take full ownership of packaging development projects, from initial concept to final implementation. Your primary responsibility will be to design, test, and deliver cost-effective, high-performance protective packaging solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. This is a hands-on role that combines creativity, technical expertise, and direct customer interaction, including providing on-site training and support.

As a key member of our team, you will also collaborate closely with product management to drive innovation in sustainable packaging. You will be involved in testing and validating new materials and concepts, contributing to our continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging development projects from A to Z, ensuring successful outcomes for our customers.

  • Design, test, and optimize protective packaging solutions for performance, cost, and material efficiency.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and benchmarking of competitive materials and technologies.

  • Collaborate with the product management team on the development of new sustainable packaging products.

  • Act as a technical expert, providing support and training to customers, distributors, and internal teams.

  • Maintain comprehensive databases of test results and performance models.

Who You Are

We are looking for a rare talent who balances theoretical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can manage projects autonomously and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical or Material Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in packaging engineering, R&D, or product development.

  • A strong, hands-on mentality with a willingness to work in a lab environment.

  • Proven project leadership skills and the ability to manage projects from start to finish.

  • Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with fluency in both Dutch and German, and a good command of English.

  • Willingness to travel within Europe (approximately 25-30%).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with data analysis and modeling software.

  • Industry experience from a competitor or a large organization with a dedicated packaging department.
