The Queen's Health Systems Speech Language Pathologist - West Inpatient Speech Therapy (Call-In, Varied Shifts) in Ewa Beach, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY:
• Screens, diagnoses and treats or provides professional consultations for patients who demonstrate disorders of speech, language, cognition, and/or swallowing.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Seeing. Hearing. Speaking. Finger dexterity.
B. MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:
• Infrequent: N/A
• Occasional: Lift waist to shoulder between 6-10 lbs. Carry between 6-10 lbs.
• Frequent: Push and Pull between 36-50 lbs.
• Constant: N/A
C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:
• Infrequent: N/A
• Occasional: Kneel. Climb: Stairs/Ladder.
• Frequent: Sit. Stoop/Bend. Twist. Squat. Reach: shoulder level. Reach: above head. Gripping.
• Constant: Stand. Walk.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Frequent exposure to body fluids, especially oral/respiratory secretions, x-ray and potential communicable diseases.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION:
• No diploma and/or degree requirement.
B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Current American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Completion of a FEES (Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow) course. If the FEES course is not completed upon hire, the course must be completed within six (6) months of entrance into the position.
C. EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in an acute care hospital, or rehabilitation center, or outpatient practice.
• Prior FEES clinical experience and MBS ImP.
• Experience with adult swallowing, communication, and cognitive evaluation and treatment.
