Salary: ($53,400 - $100,650) Placement commensurate with experience and training

Primary Job Function:
The Uinta County School District #1 Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) assists the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in supporting the development of speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. The SLPA works under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP to implement treatment plans and support services that address the individual needs of students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications Disorders required.
- SLPA certification/licensure (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of augmentative communication systems and assistive devices preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and Programming
- Assist the SLP in implementing speech and language treatment plans
- Provide services to students under SLP supervision
- Prepare therapy materials and activities
- Collect and document student performance data
- Assist in screenings (no independent interpretation)
- Maintain student files and materials
- Support coordination of services
Collaboration and Support
- Work collaboratively with staff under SLP direction
- Assist with classroom carryover strategies
- Communicate student progress as directed
- Participate in meetings as requested
Reporting
- Collect and record student progress data
- Assist in preparing documentation
Maintain accurate service logs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of speech and language development
- Ability to follow SLP-developed plans
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse student needs
- Maintain confidentiality
Supervision:
The SLPA works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, who is responsible for evaluation, treatment planning, progress monitoring, and compliance with applicable laws.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to bodily fluids and may require travel between locations.
