We’re seeking a highly motivated civil engineer to support the growth and success of our Water and Wastewater group through hands-on technical work, creative problem‑solving, and collaborative project delivery. Summary
The Water & Wastewater Designer 2 provides planning and design on straightforward water and wastewater systems including pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, and other water-related facilities with limited autonomy. Duties include attending site visits, calculating pressure, flow and capacities, designing underground and above-ground piping systems, selecting and specifying equipment, coordinating with government agencies and other stakeholders, and preparing plans, specifications and estimated costs for project bidding and construction. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, a desire to learn new design concepts, and have great organizational and communication skills. A Water & Wastewater Designer 2 should demonstrate developing proficiency with drafting and design software and be able to quickly learn and apply 2D and 3D design concepts. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary. This position works under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer.

Project Delivery

Water and sewer infrastructure improvements
Force main design
Field data collection
Hydrant tests
Lift station draw down tests
Water distribution system, sewer collection system hydraulic modeling
Infrastructure sizing
Basic hydraulic calculations
Project layout
Prepare design reports
CAD/GIS drawings
Standard details
Report figures
Alternatives/economic analysis
Quantity takeoffs and estimates
Assemble project specifications
Provide construction inspection
Daily quantities and field reports
Understanding Budget and Schedule
Moderate understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. With guidance, predicts the level of effort for individual tasks and successfully deliver tasks within that level of effort. Monitors results on moderately complex projects.
