8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Position Summary:
Our 8th Avenue Lead Sanitation Tech is responsible for maintaining HFS Food Safety through the cleaning of company equipment used in food production, packaging, and warehouse/shipping areas within the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) as well as HFS & Food Industry Best Practices and the Golden Rules of Safety. This role is also accountable for monitoring and inspecting production outputs to ensure manufactured goods adhere to quality, food safety, and customer specifications. Employees will work as part of a team assigned to clean designated production equipment and facilities. The Lead Technician will assign activities to the Sanitation Technicians and ensure the assignments are safely and satisfactorily completed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure all raw materials storage, food blending, ovens and packaging machinery, warehouse and perimeter areas are cleaned to a Master Schedule and company regulations
Clean all machines per the standard operating procedures. This requires the disassembly and reassembly of equipment to ensure that all food residue has been removed.
Follow Good Manufacturing and individual personal hygiene practices at all times
Follow all safety procedures and policies and report any unsafe or unsanitary conditions immediately to supervisor on duty
Exhibit high levels of organization and documentation for all tasks
Maintain daily reports and records as assigned
Assign tasks and projects to the Sanitation Technicians as well as tasks to other Departments, including following up on status of tasks and verification of tasks or project completion.
Accurately complete the Weekly Master Schedule
Report pH and ATP testing
Assist in the introduction, training, and evaluation process for all new employees
Ensure GMPs and chemical usage guidelines are being followed by Sanitation Technicians
Report and document observed performance and behavioral issues to the supervisor
Recognize and report exemplary behavior
Responsible for taking necessary action on all food safety and quality problems reported or observed
Be knowledgeable in the type and use of chemicals employed in day-to-day activities and model exemplary safety practices with regard to their use
Complete all other tasks/duties as assigned by Supervisor
Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
One year experience in sanitation in a food manufacturing facility or medical facility
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed
Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite of applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Work on a team proactively providing assistance to other members
Attentive to detail and thorough in completing work tasks in assigned order
Be open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace
Learn and use computers and software
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Must be able to position self to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift
Must be able to move or maintain a stationary position stand for up to 8+ hours per shift
Must be able to reach above shoulders for 4+ hours per shift
Must be able to be exposed to and work around a dusty environment, high heat, or humidity for 8+ hours per shift
Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, and feel for 4+ hours per shift
Must be able to move or transport up-to 50 pounds
Must be able to team or lift assistance to lift greater than 55 pounds for up to 4+ hours per shift
Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written word
