Description
Our Oregon Trucking operations has an opening for a Lead Logistics Planner. The position is a full-time, exempt position with salary dependent on experience. The position will be located at the Goshen, Oregon trucking office. The work week is Monday through Friday, with rotating shifts covering the operating hours between 4:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The fundamental purpose of the Lead Logistics Planner role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the logistics team and serve as a liaison between harvest units and haul units. The key function is to identify and implement the optimal and most cost-effective method to transport logs utilizing dispatch software. With normal duties consisting of routine dispatching, scheduling, and planning, data entry, and other duties as needed.
Key Functions:
Lead and support the logistics team and central dispatch haul system, including employee selection, performance management, coaching and feedback, development planning, employee hours and schedules, rotation of planner responsibilities.
Address and manage day-to-day delivery and planning issues within harvesting to customer supply chain, coordinating with appropriate manager(s) to improve system efficiencies.
Strong partnership with transportation supervisors and harvesting managers to better serve our log supply chain.
Manage the interfacing activities/needs between log truck drivers/contractors and the central dispatch system.
Optimize daily orders generated by the logging operations, scheduling pickups and destination points to coincide with mill and log operation needs.
Use integrated dispatch software to track loads ordered by each loading operation and optimize load delivery.
Accurately update data in the computer database as driver or log loader calls in information to manage transportation, and route optimization.
Upload and implement Log Loader orders for next day thru the Loader Application and Webboard.
Communications over the radio, computer, and telephone are fast paced. Communications make up 50% of the work, and requires excellent customer service.
Maintain daily communication with drivers, mills, operations, and marketing to ensure that the production goals are met.
Respond to absence calls from drivers, assuring their driving activities are covered for the day and required system input is completed.
Work with Logistics Manager and Logistics Lead counterpart to develop standardized processes across both WA and OR. (Dispatch Software, Optimization, SharePoint, Safety Checks/Sweep, Truck Priority, etc.) Ensure the logistics team is following established processes

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities:
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Associates or BA degree in related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years leadership experience, with previous management of DOT-regulated fleets is preferred.
Solid experience/working knowledge of computer-based trucking logistics, dispatch and fleet management software.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
Effective critical thinking, planning, and organizational skills with demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals.
Customer relations experience; managing customer needs, volume, quality, reliability, overall relationships
Ability to effectively lead employees and contractors to respond and meet changing customer requirements/needs.
Proven commitment to safety with knowledge of safety processes.
What We Offer:
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $69,396-$104,095 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
