Job Summary
The Maintenance Engineer (m/f/d) plays a critical role in ensuring that production and utility systems are operated safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position is responsible for developing and implementing asset criticality and reliability strategies, optimizing maintenance plans, and leading root cause analyses to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment availability.
The Maintenance Engineer analyzes equipment performance data, drives preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and works closely with Operations, Safety, Quality, and Engineering to ensure compliant, high-performing, and reliable production systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve equipment performance, reduce unplanned downtime, and optimize maintenance costs
Lead the execution of site-wide asset criticality assessments and evaluate the criticality of preventive maintenance (PM) activities and spare parts
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action initiatives for recurring equipment issues
Analyze maintenance data (MTBF, MTTR) using SAP PM to identify trends and develop, implement, and present data-driven improvement plans
Develop predictive maintenance (PdM) programs using methods such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasonic testing
Support calibration, qualification, and validation activities for new equipment
Promote Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) in critical work areas and drive a culture of continuous improvement and maintenance excellence
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical field
Additional training or certification in Six Sigma or Maintenance Management preferred
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Maintenance, Reliability, or Engineering within a regulated manufacturing environment (preferably pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industries)
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience implementing equipment reliability programs (RCM, TPM, PdM)
Strong proficiency in SAP
Knowledge of statistical analysis methods (e.g., Minitab)
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GMP, ISO, and safety requirements
Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
Strong project management and communication skills
Passion for continuous improvement and results orientation in manufacturing environments
