Northern Lights YMCA Childcare Cook in Escanaba, Michigan

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Childcare Director and in the accordance with the association and policies of the Northern Lights YMCA, the dietary specialist will be responsible for preparing healthy meals and snacks for our childcare and managing and maintaining guidelines outlined in food program, tracking receipts, ordering/purchasing food, following a budget, and following state licensing guidelines as it relates to environmental health and LARA rules. In addition, the Dietary Lead will be responsible for the cleanliness and minor upkeeping in the kitchen facilities located at the NLY Wells Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Interact with children, act as a role model. 2. Maintain all YMCA standards and rules. 3. Maintain caregiver status and rules, regulations that apply. 4. Be aware of all safety hazards. Implement first aid, CPR or AED training if necessary 5. Create and maintain a healthy food program based on the CACFP requirements for the Wells Childcare Center (excluding Schoolage) 6. Track receipts 7. Work with the food budget. 8. Deliver all snacks and meals to classrooms. 9. Be responsible for ordering/purchasing all groceries for childcare programs -- done once per week. 10. Facility Responsibilities: Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and equipment. 11. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required. 12. Provide excellent service. 13. Perform other related duties as required.
