Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Senior Maintenance Technician leads a team of service technicians in the installation, repair, and optimization of automated packaging and distribution equipment. This role designs solutions for complex maintenance challenges, manages technical projects, and plays a key part in training and mentoring junior technicians. The position focuses on ensuring high equipment reliability and operational efficiency across material handling, robotics, and conveyor systems while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide service technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment.

  • Design and implement solutions for complex mechanical, electrical, and controls-related problems affecting material handling and automation systems.

  • Conduct predictive and preventive maintenance procedures on material handling equipment (MHE), automated conveyor systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulics, and related components.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on material handling equipment (MHE), sorters, conveyors, robotics, and associated electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to identify issues, plan repairs, and support equipment installations and upgrades.

  • Mentor and train junior technicians, providing technical guidance, coaching, and support to build team capability and ensure consistent maintenance practices.

  • Monitor equipment performance, identify risks, and implement risk management practices to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.

  • Carry out electrical troubleshooting and mechanical troubleshooting on robotics, including Fanuc robots and other automated systems.

  • Execute and document preventive maintenance activities to meet or exceed safety and performance standards.

  • Support maintenance supervision by coordinating tasks, prioritizing work orders, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance activities.

  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize production interruptions and optimize system performance.

  • Demonstrate and enforce safety standards at all times while working with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least 4 years of experience repairing and maintaining Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and pneumatic systems.

  • At least 4 years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment.

  • At least 4 years of experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.

  • At least 4 years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE), automated conveyor systems, or related mechanical/controls equipment.

  • At least 4 years of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.

  • At least 4 years of experience demonstrating and adhering to safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment.

  • At least 3 years of experience troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on material handling equipment (MHE).

  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting for industrial equipment and automation systems.

  • Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting of conveyors, sorters, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related equipment.

  • Experience working with robotics systems, including Fanuc robots or similar industrial robots.

  • Ability to mentor and support junior technicians in a maintenance environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products and applications for documentation, reporting, and communication (minimum 1 year).

  • Experience with material handling equipment such as sorters, conveyors, and robotics in a high-throughput distribution or packaging environment.

  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance best practices for automated systems.

  • Familiarity with risk management principles related to equipment reliability and workplace safety.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design practical solutions for complex technical issues.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support technician training.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly automated industrial or warehouse environment.

Work Environment

This role operates in a highly automated packaging and distribution facility with extensive use of material handling equipment, conveyors, sorters, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and industrial robotics such as Fanuc robots. You regularly work around running machinery, electrical systems, and moving equipment while adhering to strict safety standards. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for shifts of up to 12 hours and to move items weighing up to 49 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Schedules may include nights, weekends, and holidays to support continuous operations. The employer provides lightweight fire-resistant daily wear and composite toe safety shoes, contributing to a safety-focused, industrial work environment where proper protective attire is standard.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $89440.00 - $120000.00/yr.
